(Okay, first of all, paragraphing is terribly wonky, because..I don't know, it's just always that way when I post a RP. And I can never fix it. Second of all, this is a role play with my fabulous TaylorRose, that takes place after another unposted role play where Fluttershy is attacked by a hydra (mentioned in this fic), AND it takes place in the setting of Broken Spirit. It's Dislestia..enjoy~)

Celestia wasn't particularly surprised to see Discord pretty much have to be dragged up the hill to the royal gardens, by the butter colored pegasus. She wasn't too fond of the idea of spending any time with the draconequus either, but, well, nopony could say no to Fluttershy, especially when the poor thing just had a scrape with death.

With a pout on his face and his arms crossed like a child, it was a secret to nopony that Discord was not in the best of moods.

"Forced to go," he grumbled to himself as he was pulled up the hill. "Spend time with her, feh."

Fluttershy dragged him by various places, but seemed to have the best result with his tail, since he would NOT move on his own. Angel helped too, shoving him from behind, groaning as he pushed the heavy spirit's weight.

Celestia just watched on, having to smile. The sight was frankly hilarious, especially the pathetic pout on the spirit's face.

When they finally managed to reach the princess, the pout didn't leave Discord's face but Fluttershy forced him not to keep his arms crossed. The spirit leaned slight forward and greeted, "Hello, Celestia~" without even a smile.

But it seemed Celestia obviously didn't want this anymore than he did as she kicked a small puff of dust up into his face, smiling when he sneezed. "Apologies, my hoof slipped. Good morning, Discord~"

Fluttershy shook her head, finding it hard to believe that two grown gods and goddesses could act like such immature, spatting siblings.

"Okay..I will be back in a few hours after I'm done shopping." She nuzzled the spirit's back, turning to hesitantly walk away.

Without hesitation, Discord turned away from the princess and sat down on the ground, intending to say and do nothing until Fluttershy returned. Then at least he'd be able to say he did spend some time with Celestia… Fluttershy never specified what they were supposed to do.

But sadly, surprisingly, Fluttershy was one step ahead of them. "I am leaving Angel to keep an eye on you both and make you you both COMMUNICATE. Come on now.." She smiled at them. "You can't spend the rest of your lives hating each other. You never used to.."

Celestia's body always shuddered with pain whenever "used to" or "back then", or any words similar were mentioned. She looked down.

Discord groaned, a low growl in his throat, but the stern look on Angel's face when he hopped into the spirit's lap made Discord bite the growl back.

What were they supposed to communicate about? They had absolutely nothing in common and were mortal enemies! This whole thing was incredibly pointless, in his view, and he saw nothing related to emotions changing during it.

Celestia bit her lip, trying to think of...SOMETHING to say, and rather, honestly failing. She didn't know what to say either.

Angel looked from one to the other, tapping his foot impatiently. Finally, sighing, Celestia turned to the spirit. "How has Fluttershy been since the incident?"

He didn't turn his head to look at her when he responded, instead looking forward into the gardens. They would be so much lovelier if they just had a little… chaos. "Improving," was all he said.

Celestia mentally groaned, shifting her hooves in the dirt. This was..so awkward. It was either awkward or they'd merely just bicker and go on rants about how much they hated each other, and GAH.

The alicorn caught him looking at the garden and she hesitantly trotted to it, fingering a carnation. "I remember carnations used to be your favorite flowers until all you wanted to do was make them....edible."

Discord followed her over on a cotton candy cloud, summoning one of the carnations to him and delicately taking it in his talon. He began to study it as he responded, "They were my favorite flower because they were your favorite flower."

He twisted the flower around in his fingers, watching the petals twirl and twirl. "You had so many of them that they became so… boring, so expected. But what wouldn't be expected?" He snickered as the carnation in his hand flashed to a lollipop, and trailed his snake-like tongue over its smooth surface. "A little… chaos, that's what~"

Celestia smiled, sniffing the scent of the sweet flowers. She yelped as they became lollipops. "Please, you stupid hybrid, chaos is a little expected from you." She had to smirk lightly, although founr herself gazing thoughtfully at one of those delicious looking lollipops.

Discord's paw flew to his chest as if he had been insulted. "You expected chaos from me? From such a sweet little boy? Oh come now, Celestia, I was far too young and inexperienced to have been expected of creating disharmony."

Celestia blinked, and found herself laughing lightly. "Right..which is why the day we met you, you turned the icecubes in my parents' water glasses into marshmallows. For some reason or another though, Mother still decided you were the cutest little thing." That she couldn't deny. With his bright and wide red eyes and peach fuzz body, he was easily the cutest thing.

Discord rolled his eye, dropping his paw from his chest. "I was and still am the cutest thing," he said, smirking. But then he got serious. "And completely unpredictable," he pressed. "One minute I'm here…" In a white flash he disappeared, and then his face reappeared on the carnation in front of Celestia. "…and the next, I'm there!" he finished, snickering as he slightly startled the alicorn.

Celestia rolled her eyes. "Oh, yes, indeed you are just adora-" She yelped as he appeared in the carnation, and threw him into the pond. Blinking, she laughed at the hilarious and shocked expression as he went face down in the water. "Haha! Priceless!" she sang, smirking.

The top half of the annoyed draconequus' head emerged from the water, his eyes angered. He then smirked as he came the rest of the way out of the water. "Rubbing off on you, am I?" he asked, floating up above the princess.

"You want to see something truly priceless?" Both of his hands ignited in a golden hue and all the water soaked into his fur suddenly left him, forming a separate body of water in the air. He then released his magical hold on the water and let it fall down, splashing on the princess and leaving the draconequus to laugh in the air.

Celestia's laughs ceased and she blinked, looking up as the giant body of water shadowed above her. "Oh no.." Not enough time to dodge, the princess could only shriek as the freezing water drenched her. She glared as he fell back in the air laughing, and she fluttered her wings dry quickly, before lifting up to meet him in the sky.

"Magic duel?" she smirked, remembering their many so very often vicious duels when they were younger.

Discord stopped his laughing almost immediately, smirking instead and meeting her gaze. "Oho, you are SO on," he accepted. He cracked his knuckles, and then something came to mind. "However… it's a bit of an unfair advantage, don't you think? I deserve ALL of my powers for something like this."

Celestia's eyes widened. All of his power? OH no way. No way in – well, worst came to worst and she could take it away. Taking a deep breath, the princess lowered her horn, allowing his magic to completely fill him.

Looking down, Discord flexed his fingers like he had done when his magic had been returned to save Fluttershy's life. He was all powerful again – he could do… anything he wanted. Anything at all…"Let's make things a little more… dramatic, shall we?" he said with a smirk. "What's a duel without a little rain?"

Suddenly the sky above them was invaded by pink clouds, which immediately began pouring chocolate milk down like rain. Discord spread his arms out and threw his head back, laughing in chaotic delight.

"Discord!" Celestia yelled sharply, glaring at him. "That rain is going all over Equestria! Ughhh.." She glanced over as the downpour of chocolate drenched the warm and dry grass, and some rather miffed gardeners.Oh well, ponies wouldn't mind a little...sticky rain for a bit. (Especially not Pinkie Pie.)

"At least make it warmer – the day is already cold," she scolded, and then used her magic to
turn the chocolate much warmer, so at least ponies wouldn't catch a cold. In fact they might appreciate the warm rain, sticky regardless.

"Alright..." A wide smirk spread across the princess's face. "Let's begin."

Discord scowled as the milk turned warm and slithered his snake-like tongue back into his mouth. He then swerved through the air and ignited his hands, feeling the power surge through him once again. Ah, it felt so good to have his magic living within him! Like it should always be…

"Heed my word, Discord," Celestia growled at him, watching his glowing paw and talon carefully. "You do anything too dangerous and I will not only take away the amount I just gave you, I will take away ALL of it for a week."

Her horn glowed, charging a spell of her own. "Well without further ado.." A giant pink ribbon appeared, wrapping around him in the air and completely immobilizing him.

Unfortunately for him, the ribbon wrapped around his flapping wings, pinning them down and taking away his ability of flight. He quickly crashed to the ground, struggling to free himself from the stupidly-colored ribbon. Only after a few seconds, he decided to just rip himself out with a quick slice of magic, and was back up in the air with the princess.

"Come now, Tia, did you honestly expect that to hold me?" he asked, flying up underneath and behind her.

Celestia gasped as the ribbon went around his wings. Oops, she didn't realize. She was about to tumble out an awkward apology, up until he made that cocky remark and flew behind her.
The princess swerved around in the air, looking unimpressed by his conceited smirk. With the flash of her horn, he had a muzzle, a pink one with flowers.

His eyes popped open wide and went cross-eyed, looking down his face at the stupid muzzle. "Mmmph!" he shrieked, tearing at the thing. He then disappeared in a white flash, and when he reappeared in front of Celestia, the ribbon was gone.

"How about this, dear?" he sneered, a scowl on his face. He snapped his fingers once and trapped the princess within a yellow bubble of magic.

Celestia almost shrieked as he appeared inches away from her face, their snouts almost touching each other, electing a shiver from the princess. She blinked as she appeared in the bubble, looking around at the wobbly walls in curiosity. Rolling her eyes, she let a magic hue envelope her horn, which popped it immediately.

"How about this, Ugly?" Smiling, the princess made a giant pepper shaker appear above his head, which sprinkled large grains of pepper down on him.

After just one sneeze, he disappeared with another white flash, but this time didn't reappear within Celestia's eyesight. He popped back into existence behind a bush on the ground, aimed his glowing talon up at the princess, and released a mere shock of magic, giggling madly as it zapped the alicorn's royal… well, rump.

Celestia blinked as he disappeared, and she honestly expected him to appear over her head (or on it), therefore far from expecting the harsh sting, and she shrieked, her hooves flying to her royal backside. "YEOWCH!!!"

She glared fiercely when he started laughing hysterically, and she narrowed her eyes. "THAT was a low blow!"

Smliing grimly, the alicorn – one hoof still rubbing her sore behind – aimed her horn towards him, making a rather giant ping pong paddle appear, which whipped him repetitively in the backside.

"OW!" the draconequus screeched, and then repeated every time he was smacked. He managed to snap his fingers, but instead of disappearing and reappearing, he merely made it so that a pillow smacked into him from behind and sent him tumbling to the ground, where he landed with a "thud". He groaned in discomfort, rubbing his sore backside while glaring up at the alicorn.

"THAT was uncalled for!" he screamed at her. "I only hit you ONCE!"

Celestia rolled her eyes at him, directed her horn at him, and made the pain disappear. Although she gave him a guilty expression, inside she was laughing and smiling

"Apologies, got carried away." She saw he still looked enraged and sighed, lowering her magic shield and letting herself land on the ground. "Fine, fine, you get a free blow to do whatever to me – as long as it isn't too dangerous – and I won't even try to get you back."

Discord's eyes widened and sparkled and a sadistic grin came to his face. "Oho, anything?" he said, stroking his beard in thought. The pain from his backside now gone, he hopped into the air and floated on his stomach, still stroking his beard.

"You've gotta give me a chance to think, Tia, this is a very delicate matter." He started debating over things in his head, looking up to the sky in thought. After a minute, he gasped, a wide smile on his face.

"You are going to loooove this~" he singsonged, floating over to and around the princess. He raised his arms up and two marionettes appeared in either hand. Magical strings stretched down from them and attached to the princess, slightly startling her, and turning her into a puppet.

Discord giggled from above, and then yanked her harshly across the grass and into the chilly pond. He pulled her out of the water, still chuckling, before making a pie appear in front of her. He lifted up one of her forelegs, made her take the pie in her hoof, and then forced her to slam it right in her own face. Discord erupted into further laughter, and then made her slip on a banana peel and land face-first in a puddle of chocolate milk.

Celestia waited for him to attack her, and she didn't expect what happened next. The pony gave a gasp when the invisible strings attached to her hooves, and she shakily looked up to where he was holding the wooden marionettes.

She tried to convince herself that this was a little different, but still couldn't hold in the terrified quivers as she was moved about as a puppet. The only thing that seemed to go through her head – not even feeling the freezing cold water and pie – was the first time he had used his puppeteering skills on her, soon after he took over the throne.

I remember how we fondly created puppet shows when we were little, Tia. Let's see how you will fair being one yourself~

Still quivering, the princess tried to show she hadn't completely lost her composure as she wiped the chocolate milk off her face, although the tears showed she had.

"Okay.." She tried to smirk. "I-I had that one coming."

The marionettes and their strings disappeared, freeing the princess, and Discord floated back down to the ground, still laughing. Then he caught the look on Celestia's face and the tears slipping past her eyelids, and he scoffed lightly.

"Oh come now, Tia, don't tell me that made you cry!" he said, as if it was the most ridiculous thing in the world. "I could have done so much worse and you know it!"

"I'm not crying," Celestia said, stomping a hoof indignantly and turning her head. He didn't see – of course he didn't see, or he just didn't care about what he was making her feel. Perhaps he didn't realize that that was where the ultimate betrayal occurred, every ounce of love destroyed when he tied her to those strings.

"It's my turn." She wiped her eyes, smirking and lowering her horn towards him. Right before she was about to attack him, the brief flash of his cruel sneer with those marionettes back in the palace went through her head and she closed her eyes.

"Or..maybe we take a few minutes for a break and then resume."

The smirk slowly fell from his face and was replaced by a small pout as one of his eyebrows rose. He slithered through the air over to the princess and wrapped himself around her, taking her chin in his talon and studying her eyes. "What's wrong with you?" he asked in a childish tone, honestly confused with her strange behavior.

Celestia felt like she could vomit as he wrapped around her, and her entire body froze solid, and was literally as cold as death against his skin. For a second she looked like death. She knew that he wasn't honestly concerned, and he probably just wanted to know so he could laugh at her for it.

Ugh, what was with her! Okay, the marionettes brought back terrible memories, but why did she still wish there was something there? There was nothing there and wouldn't ever be again. Growing up almost as siblings, eventually starting to fall for each other and generally be as close as two ponies could be was over. Ripped from under them and it would stay that way.

So...why couldn't she let it go? Why did she still so desperately wish he cared and his touches and words were genuine?

"I..." She shut her eyes tightly, but further tears squeezed out. "I'm just...I thought..I..memories." The incoherent string of words trailed off to nothing; his deep, sick laughter from ages ago echoing through her skull, making her body shudder.

His face straightened out, taking on a rather serious expression as he untangled himself from around her body. "Hm…" The single chuckle was the only thing that came out of his throat, and it wasn't because of anything related to amusement.

Memories suddenly flashed back for him as well, and he could finally understand why the puppet thing had caused such a disturbance for her. He remembered the day he broke through their defenses and took their throne; he remembered how he had played with them as puppets; he remembered… it all. The time before, the time during, the time leading up to…

He shivered as the memory of being turned to stone for the first time entered his mind. He remembered the pain and utter terror he had felt as he lost his freedom, the looks on their faces… on her face. The look on Celestia's face as he was sealed away for what had been presumably forever. It was cold… but it was sad.

He shook his head, escaping the memories, and looked away from the princess. "There are… many of them," he said quietly, silently sending his magic up into the sky to stop the chocolate rain and chase the pink clouds away.

Celestia wanted to cry as he let go of her. She wanted to cry in relief and cry because she didn't want his presence to leave her. She didn't realize the quiet sobs were already racking her body. Oh Equestria, she was acting so STUPID! She was stupid for missing him when he was RIGHT in front of her, and stupid for missing him..at all!

She watched the clouds as they returned to normal as she looked up at the narrowed eyed pain on his face. The day she had turned him to stone had been..one of the worst days of her life. It was worse than Luna's banishment. And why? Luna was corrupted by an evil influence, while Discord wasn't corrupted at all.

He chose this path. He chose to betray her parents – THEIR parents – and he chose to destroy the ties of friendship and love between them all. He chose it all. Luna didn't. Luna didn't choose to become Nightmare Moon.

"There are too much," she whimpered, the sobs racking her frame. "Too much...and I..I don't..I don't-" It was lost in a sob.

Discord turned back to look at her again, seeing the sobs shaking through her body. He felt the strange urge to comfort her, but quickly shook it off. "What was that?" he simply asked, curious as to what it was she had been trying to say.

"I don't want to remember it." The emotions of the past...centuries, honestly, gushed out in a huge blast as she cried more, letting the tears drench her fur and the grass.

"I don't want to remember any of it! I don't want to remember turning you to stone, because-because-" She was crying too hard to get it out for a few moments.
"-because I'll never forgive myself for doing it to you, even if it WAS for Equestria! And I don't want to think about the past because..because it's the past!" She sobbed. "It's over! That's not..you anymore ,and there's no us." Her voice gave off to an anguished whisper.

"There's no more Tia and Lulu and Cordy.... There never will be again." She shut her eyes, whimpering and then sobbing anew.
"It's over..but my mind won't realize that.."

Discord's eyes widened and he involuntarily took a step backwards, confused and shocked by Celestia's sudden breakdown right in front of him. What was she doing? Did she expect him to comfort her or something?

"Um… Celestia, I… um… are you… okay?" he tried, knowing it'd be what Fluttershy would want him to do.

Her horn smouldered with fire as she stormed to him, forcing him to take a step back. "NO! No, I'm not okay! I have not been okay in 'eons' and I will not ever be okay!!" she practically screamed at him, by this point Discord most likely questioning her sanity.

"You never stopped torturing me," she half snarled half sobbed. "From the day I imprisoned you, I never stopped thinking about you," she whimpered, "and you never left my head. You and Luna were all I thought about. And all you do and did is torture me, try to fool me into believing something could still be there!"

She walked closer to him, forcing him to take a step back as she harshly jabbed him. "And it's as if my suffering won't ever be enough for you!"

Discord summoned a shield of magic between the two of them when her horn ignited, honestly scared for her. Not of her, for her. She was losing her mind, she had to be!

"Celestia, I don't know why you're saying all of this to me – I never meant for you to go insane!" he yelled, throwing his arms up. "I won't say that I don't miss the good ol' days, because I do, but what happened with me… it was inevitable! I was born to do exactly what I did, and even if it wouldn't have been what I would choose as a small child, it's who I was destined to grow up to be!"

The small blast of fire from her horn slammed into the shield – ricocheting back and hitting her in the face. Celestia didn't even cry out, and she honestly wondered when she had blasted him, as she didn't even try to attack him. ...Or so she thought.

She squinted hard, ignoring the burning and the blood trickling down her cheeks with her tears. "You could have controlled it.. You did when you were little... You could have.." She shook her head and looked down at the grass, trembling, tears and blood dropping into the grass
.
"I don't know.." Then she looked at him, waiting for his reactions. "Well? Aren't you going to laugh and mock me like usual?"

"I didn't control anything when I was little," he replied, flinching when the fire hit her face. "The need for chaos came with age… and spending so much time with you probably didn't help with anything, although you were far more fun back then." He paused when she did and just watched her. When she looked back up and demanded if he would mock her, he was slightly surprised.

"Why would I mock you over something that I wish hadn't have had to happen either?" he asked. "That'd be fairly hypocritical of me."

Celestia sighed, wiping the blood with her hooves, and trying to light a spark of healing magic. The injury flashed away, but returned after a moment. Healing magic never was her forte.

"Fine..so you were born to create chaos, but.. we were family. I just...don't see what we did.. I don't see what Luna did, what I did.....and I don't see what Mother and Father did..."

"You didn't feel it?" Discord asked, lowering his shield and walking over to her. He raised his talon to her wound and started a healing spell. "The wedge of separation? We wanted different things. As chaos become a more prominent part of my existence, Mother and Father began… looking at me and treating me differently.

We fought a lot more often, and I started taking enjoyment in causing them strife and anger and… after a while, even pain." He removed his hand from her head, the wound now gone completely, and looked down at the ground while taking a step back.

"You and Luna were just… you didn't like the way I "played", and you started getting on my nerves. That's why I started practicing disharmony on not only Mother and Father, but the two of you as well. And it just grew and grew from there."

Celestia closed her eyes, shuddering from the touch of his talon as it lightly touched her forehead. She writhed under it as it caused more pain, until cool relief finally seeped in, and she almost smiled as the burning dissipated.

Despondently, she fell onto her rump and let her tears fall. It was the truth and she knew it.. They were meant to grow apart, and they were never meant to be the family they were. Part of the alicorn wished that she hadn't met him until he took over Equestria. At least that way she would be able to hate him.

But not...she still cared, still loved him. She still couldn't let go. She raised her tired, anguished eyes to meet his equally tired ones.

He looked down at her, seeing the sadness in her teary eyes. "I hate to say so, or even to think so, but it had to have been some sort of mistake that we ever met before… what transpired. It shouldn't have happened – everything would have been so different.

And if my parents had known, all hell would have broken loose. Or, well, sooner than it did with me." He let out a short, breathy chuckle. "Then again, I never knew my parents, but… considering who I am, they must have been bad news."

Celestia didn't realize she was leaning against him in exhaustion. She honestly thought it was the grass, despite the fact she wasn't laying down.

"Say what you want about it, but.." She shook her head and said softly. "I won't ever look at you coming into the family as a mistake.."

Discord sighed, sitting down on the grass to take some weight off of his still-injured foot. "How could it not have been?" he asked, looking up at the sky. "I mean… look at everything that happened. We were obviously never supposed to be a family. It… would have made everything… easier, for everyone."

Celestia winced as she looked down at his burnt foot. Well..he had healed her – twice.. She focused her horn on his foot, breathing out in relief when she finally managed to do the healing spell. Considering it was almost healed already it was a cinch.

"It wasn't mistake.. it was just...fate." She shrugged, sitting back beside him. "It was fate that brought us as family, and it was fate that ripped us apart."

She looked up at him. Maybe fate is trying to finally push us together again..

He looked curiously down at his foot after she healed it, and smiled slightly. "But we're polar opposites," he went on, trying to prove his point. "Chaos and harmony… order and discord…" He paused, going into deep thought.

Two sides of the same coin… one can't exist without the other… maybe… no, of course not. She was just delusional.' He pouted in frustration, two sides at war within him.

"Yet order can't exist without chaos, and chaos can't exist without order." It was as if she heard him, as she passed a hoof over his foot, making sure there was no scarring. No, it was healed.

"Sunshine can't exist without storms; the ocean can't exist without its dangerous crashing waves."

He sighed. "Alright fine, maybe it was no mistake we stumbled upon each other that one fateful day," he said. "But we were always meant to grow away from each other. You and Luna wanted nothing to do with my fun, and neither did Mother or Father. It's not your faults, it was just…" He sighed again, closing his eyes. "…meant to be."

"You don't understand what I'm saying." Though perhaps neither did she. Chaos and harmony needed each other to survive, and as long as the two of them were still living...

She shook her head, closing her eyes. No. Things..were meant to be different. The two factors couldn't exist without each other, but they needed to.

"Perhaps it's time..you go back to Fluttershy..."

"She said she would come to get me," he replied, rolling onto his stomach in the grass and looking up at her. "Besides, I'm actually… intrigued by this conversation. I'm interested in what exactly it is that I'm apparently not understanding." He slithered up closer to her and whispered, "I'd like to find out, you know."

She backed away from him, hating him being this close to her, despite how much she yearned for him when he wrapped around her earlier.

"I don't...know." She honestly didn't. She probably made no sense and she didn't care. She didn't know what she was trying to say anymore. This was just a huge mess. She was almost angry with Fluttershy for making them spend time together.

"I miss you," she said, the tears once again trickling. "So much, and I guess.." She turned away. "..that is what I'm trying to say."

"You miss me," he said, "and yet you're acting as if you don't want me here." He pulled away from her, standing on all fours now. "You are quite a mystery, Celestia, and I only wish I could figure you out."
He turned away from her, lying down on his back and staring up into the sky. He missed her too, he knew it, but he couldn't bring himself to admit it. Not to her, and not even to himself. He hated fate sometimes… it could be a real pain.

Celestia screamed against her mind, but it was to no avail as she actually reached out with a hoof and grabbed his paw when he tried to get up. She shuddered, and he seemed to do so too, and she tried to pull back, but her hoof wouldn't move. What the hay was wrong with her? She just needed to go to bed..Too bad she had to spend another two hours with him.

"I of course am angry with what you've done...but I still miss you. I..I have always missed you," she whispered. "From the time you were in stone to the time you were in Fluttershy's care.

He looked at her and saw the sincerity of her words in her eyes, and could even hear it in her voice. She sure hadn't seemed like she had missed him when he returned a few months back.

"I wish… none of that had had to happen," he said quietly, looking away from her again. "You have no idea what it was like for me… to be trapped in that stone for so many years… You were hardly ever not on my mind and…" He swallowed, debating with himself whether or not he should say it. "…I missed you too."

Celestia let the tears fall from her eyes, as she once again started crying openly. He missed her....he thought of her, all those years he thought of her?

She felt the cinnamon fur against her face, and dimly realized she had buried into his chest.

"I missed you.. Not a day went by when I didn't-" she was cut off in a sob "-regret what I did to you.. All I wanted was to free you." she whispered, crying harder.

He held her to him, though still being cautious with her. "I may have chosen chaos and to do… everything that I did…" He shivered as he remembered back to the many horrors he had caused. "…but I never would have seen you harmed. Never. And when you… when you chose to use the Elements on me so… so easily, as if you didn't even need to think twice about it, it just… it made being trapped with my thoughts for thousands of years that much more agonizing, thinking that you had never truly cared for me and that you were glad to finally be rid of me." He blinked, refusing to let a tear fall.

Celestia started crying uncontrollably as his words sunk in. "No!" she sobbed. "No, Discord..no..I cried...and cried the day I stoned you.. I couldn't forgive myself for what I had done and-and I'll always hate myself for it. I never wanted to be rid of you; I love you so much – I couldn't want that." She failed to realize she hadn't said 'loved' there.

If it was possible to cry harder she did as he held her. It had been...a thousand years since his touch had been genuine.

"I… believe you," he said, surprised that it was actually true. He very hesitantly placed a shaky talon on top of her head and stroked it through her mane. "I believe you," he said again, quieter, as he listened to her tortured sobs.

So many years had been spent contemplating everything. So many years had gone by without her. So many years… so many years and he had never once stopped loving her. To think, he had been convinced she hated him, but to now know, for certain, that she never had… it almost made all the pain worth it.

She hadn't ever stopped caring for him, and apparently she still did. And this brought a sort of spark into his heart.

Closing his eyes, he let a single tear slip out as he lowered his head and whispered, "I love you too."

Celestia's sobs had become hoarse they were so hard and violent, and the years of pain just poured out. When he whispered that, she felt... There were no words to describe it.

All those years of anguish, wishing he was there with her, that he would change, and..he had in a sense. He would always be the spirit of chaos, and would always be dangerous on some level, but...he was still Cordy.

He was still Cordy and he'd stay that way. He'd stay that way, and he'd stay with her.. She decided his fate, and she decided he couldn't go again.

She gave a choked and strangled sob of anguish as she buried into the ever familiar, soft brown fur.
